北韓領導人金正恩同父異母胞兄金正男遭毒殺，經馬來西亞警方證實，金正男確曾遭到VX神經毒劑的攻擊，以致喪命。在眾多毒物裡，VX是一種毒性相當強的化學戰劑，美軍曾在一次VX散佈試驗中，誤殺6000隻羊，人類若吸入，15分鐘內就會致死。
長期以來，化學戰劑一直是軍隊遂行生化作戰的利器，尤在第二次世界大戰期間，生化武器被大量使用，造成無以數計的人員傷亡。至於VX是英國人於1952年首先發現的一種毒劑，英軍隨後將VX列為制式裝備，美軍化學部隊也將VX視為發展化學戰劑的重點。由於VX的殺傷力大，當時的知名度超過其它化學戰劑。
回顧歷史，因VX神經毒劑而導致的傷亡案件，最引起世人討論的就是1968年的羊群訴訟案。1968年3月，美軍在猶他州骷髏谷（Skull Valley of Utah）進行VX散佈試驗時，意外造成6000隻羊死亡，汙染整個牧場，同年10月才被允許繼續放牧。
VX毒劑的致死率非常高，人類一旦吸入，2分鐘內就會出現中毒的症狀，瞳孔立刻收縮；4分鐘內多汗、流涎；5分鐘內抽搐、痙攣，15分鐘內就會死亡。面對中毒者，須以阿托平急救。

國歌有多不得民心？看看過去蔡總統還沒當選前，蔡總統硬是跳過「吾黨」，不肯唱。前總統陳水扁在任時，出席中樞春祭，也唱不出口。還有蔡總統就職大典上，全場起立唱國歌，獨派大老辜寬敏堅持坐著不起身。原來這首歌並不是正式的國歌，而是「中國國民黨黨歌」！
國歌48字的歌詞，來自民國13年（1924年），孫文在黃埔軍校開學典禮的訓詞，後來成為「中國國民黨黨歌」暫時代理國歌，這一代代了將近100年。知道實情的本土派人士，近年來頻頻主張，台灣應該有自己的國歌。
這首《台灣翠青》是鄭兒玉牧師寫的詩，由音樂家蕭泰然譜曲，被本土社團視為視為「台灣共和國國歌」。這首彭明敏選舉總統時的主題曲《海洋的國家》，節奏輕快，也有人偏好它當國歌，總統蔡英文也自有喜好。
民進黨主席蔡英文（2008.8.5）：「這是我聽過最好聽的台灣的歌，如果你要我選國歌的話，我真的會選《美麗島》。」
國歌換哪一首？各有所好，但可以確定的是，黨國時代已經過去，當年的黨歌不再適合繼續代理全民的國歌。（民視新聞綜合報導）
